Green tea

The name of green tea because the leaves of the tea shrubs do not go any fermentation or additional processing after harvest; the chlorophyll is preserved in the drink. The delicate processing techniques are thought to be among the reasons why green tea is so rich in nutrients and antioxidants — all of which may lead to a range of health benefits.

Green tea as a beverage or dietary supplement is promoted for improving mental alertness, relieving digestive symptoms and headaches, and promoting weight loss. There are different types of green tea, including dragonwell, gunpowder, matcha, and sencha. Though they vary in taste, green teas tend to have a mellow flavor.

Green tea is loaded with antioxidants that have many health benefits, which may include: improved brain function, fat loss, protecting against cancer, lowering the risk of heart disease. Green tea contains antioxidants known as polyphenols, flavonoids, fluoride, no cholesterol, no fat, no sugar, natural vitamins, and mineral. The health benefits of green tea varied and wide ranging.

Antioxidants bind harmful oxygen-containing molecules in human body called free radicals and peroxides that otherwise could damage DNA, cell membranes, and other cell membranes.

Tea is rich in polyphenols, which are natural compounds that have health benefits, such as reducing inflammation and helping to fight cancer.

Green tea contains a catechin called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). Catechins are natural antioxidants that help prevent cell damage and provide other benefits.

The rich presents of catechin polyphenols particularly epigallocatechin gallate is the reason why green tea has so much health benefits. Epigallocatechin gallate not only inhibit the growth of cancer cells but can also destroy them without harming healthy cells.

Epigallocatechin gallate also can lower down LDL cholesterol levels and stop blood from forming abnormal clots or thrombosis, a leading cause of heart attacks and strokes. Epigallocatechin gallate in green tea also have been found to significantly decrease body weight and maintain body weight after weight loss. Green tea has been shown to reduce belly fat because green tea helps to lose visceral fat around the abdomen.

Green tea contains larger amounts important nutrients including twice as much vitamins C, more than twice the amount of bioflavonoid activity, - two cup a day of green tea can meet human body’s daily needs for bioflavonoids. Green tea, when consumed as a beverage, is believed to be safe when used in amounts up to 8 cups per day.

Green tea contains caffeine. Drinking caffeinated beverages throughout the day seems to prevent a decline in alertness.
