Piccolo Latte is a ristretto shot topped with warm, silky milk served in
a 100 ml glass demitasse (small latte glass). A Ristretto is an
extraction of espresso that produces about 15-20mls of liquid. The
piccolo latte was invented in Sydney.
A Piccolo latte is very similar to the Antoccino and the Cortado in
taste and strength. It’s delicious, and the perfect way to enjoy lighter
roasts of specialty coffee with milk.
The smaller glass presents a challenging and fun prospect for baristas
to achieve latte art in the smaller glass. The term Piccolo is sometimes
used to describe any latte smaller than the conventionally small 7 to 8
ounce glass.
